It is exactly why we pilot brew, because sometimes the best laid plans do not always result in what you thought… and because experimentation is a lot of fun! We wrote a recipe for the first pilot brew for our Odell Brewing Co. Strong Belgian Golden that involved a number of ingredients and techniques we personally had little experience with. We were rewarded with a beer much different from beer we “brewed on paper”, but very inspiring to the end goal of the project. Being adventurous and rethinking what has been traditionally accepted about brewing is the reason craft brewers are always progressing while developing new beer styles, brewing techniques, and brewery equipment. Pilot brewing can produce unexpected and delicious results, even if it was not quite what we set out to do!

Expansion Render

It was golden ales not golden shovels on June 9th, as we officially broke ground on our expansion. The project includes an expansion of our existing manufacturing, office, and tap room spaces. While we are expanding capacity, we are really viewing this as an investment in innovation. Not only will we gain much needed space, the expanded brewery will also improve our creative brewing processes with investments such as a single-serve packaging line and a new barrel aging cellar.

We partnered with local businesses RB+B Architects, BHA Designs, Northern Engineering, and Delta Construction for the project. We have also incorporated multiple environmentally friendly installations and “green” considerations in the plans. The design team made a concerted effort to create a facility that is both healthy and efficient.
